RTR Club National race 2025
On Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th April, RTR are hosting our Club National (Saturday) and the NESA (North East Ski association) club national, and entry is now open.
This is a great chance for our seasoned racers to kick off the dry slope race season and an excellent opportunity for racers who are thinking of entering their first Club National, to do so on their home slope.
Our club national is of similar format to the RTR winter series, with 3 timed runs on the same course. Any one over the minimum age can enter (YOB 2017 and older) each race is ‘seeded’ (see more on seed points below) and is run by officials who follow strict race protocols. Gate judges will be positioned on the side of the course to ensure skiers correctly ski the course and along with the other officials ensure the following:
● 3 runs on the same course.
● Course inspection only, no skiing the course before the race.
● A skier that completes the course correctly will have a time recorded.
● A skier that misses a gate but crosses the finish line will be marked as disqualified (DSQ) and any skier that does not cross the finish line will be marked ‘did not finish’ (DNF).
● Age categories - All age groups are based on year of birth and are separated into Male and Female racers
● U10/12 - U10 (2017/2016), U12 (2015/2014), skied in stubbies. – Fastest time of the 3 runs counts
● U14+ - U14 (2013/2012), U16 (2011/2010), U18 (2009/2008), U21 (2007-2005), Seniors (2004-1996) & Masters (-1995 and older)-Full Gates- Best time of run 1 or 2, added to the time of run 3. Must finish run 3 to gain an overall time to gain seed points.
● On the Day: The day typically starts early with bib collection and open practice around 8.45am. Open practice is a chance to warm up before the course is set. Once the course is set, skiers can ‘inspect’ the course but must ensure they DO NOT ski the course. Allocated race Bibs must be worn for course inspection as well as racing and poles must have suitable bungs (available to purchase via Silksworth reception or ski racing supplies) to be allowed to race. The race then takes place and there is a break at lunchtime. The day concludes with prize giving around 4pm. Prizes are allocated to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category and 1st, 2nd 3rd overall male and female and overall Minis male and female.
Race Entry
You can enter the RTR club national race whether or not you are registered with your home nation (England/Scotland/Wales). Unregistered racers can enter via a day entry. The entry fee for the RTR club national and the NESA club national 2025 is £30 per day, this covers race
costs as well as Snowsport England fee. RTR racers will be supplied with an RTR race team T shirt.
If you would like to enter the seed point system and qualify for GBR and championship races then registration with your home nation is required, skiers cannot enter GBR and championship races without registration so highly recommended if any other race participation across the season is anticipated.
For England registration is via www.snowsportsengland.org.uk
Once registered you will be given a registration number which you will quote on the race application.
Seed Points: U14+ Registered racers, gain seed points for each of the races they enter (if they gain an overall time). Championship races can impose a seed point limit and therefore racers are encouraged to be registered from the start of the competition season if they are thinking of entering any other races. Full details of the seed point calculations, rules and current seed list can be accessed at www.GBski.com.
For both club Nationals, the start list for the 1st and 2nd run will be generated using the current seed list. Unregistered racers ski first followed by a random draw of registered unseeded racers, followed by 16th ranked + seeded racers (in seed point order) and the final 15 racers being a random draw of the top seeded racers.
The 3rd run order will be based on the fastest time from run 1 or 2, with the fastest skier skiing the course last.
Race Entry Process
Race entry is through the SE competition entry system. SE has produced several step-by-step guides to help with this process.

Any issues for the RTR club national race contact Kay who can help rtr.racesec@gmail.com
Latest date to enter the club national is 11th April.
Volunteers
The RTR club national is run by volunteers, if you can offer any help, please let one of the committee members know. It's a great way to meet new people, understand how the races are run, and all officials are provided with a free lunch!
We are also looking for tombola prizes to help generate some much-needed funds for our club so if you can help with this in any way please bring along to RTR club nights ahead of the club national (we also need a willing volunteer to man the tombola).
If you need any help with registration or entering the club national, please let one of the committee members or your coach know.
Season 24/25 Race Calendar
The race calendar can be found on GBSKI.com,
The dry slope race season continues through to Oct. There are sure to be RTR races at most of the races, remember to register with SSE if you want to take part in races other than club nationals.
Here are a few coming up:
03 May 25 - Pendle Club National @ Pendle ski slope
Those who have taken part in the Pendle Winter fun series will already know what a great welcoming club this is. This race is likely to be very popular with RTR members so a great one to try.
04 May 25 - Rossendale Club National - close slope to Pendle, less than 30 mins drive, so if entering the Pendle club national then this one makes a full weekend.
31st May 25: Fir Park Twin peaks: A lovely slope that’s a bit smaller than Silksworth. Situated in Tilacoultry in Fife, Scotland
01 June 25: Hillend twin peaks: Completely opposite to fir park, this slope is long and steep, a great one to try for a challenge. If you plan to give the British Championships a go, then this one is an ideal chance to practice on the slope .
GBR series: 5 races, all 3 nations represented so races take place in England, Scotland and Wales. You must be registered to enter.
• 17/18 May - GBR Outdoor 1&2 @ Llandudno Wales- great slope and amazing views.
• 21/22nd June GBR Outdoor 3&4 England. Pendle on the Saturday and Rossendale on the Sunday.
• 19th July GBR race 5, Scotland Hillend
British Championships: 20th July, Hillend. This is the big one, RTR currently have 2 British Champions, and it would be great to see lots of RTR members there and bring home the trophy this year too!
All England Championships: 23rd Aug 25 Chatham. Another big race, with 4 RTR racers currently holding the English titles we will be there again to bring home some more silverware! The Sunday hosts a team duals event, we hope to enter a couple of RTR teams.
Check the race calendar at www.gbski.com for indoor races too!!!
